Volunteer at FST
Florida Studio Theatre relies heavily on the donated time of its volunteer staff. Volunteers are directly responsible for helping keep the theatre up and running. Volunteers work throughout FST. We have a place for everyone. Feel free to contact our Volunteer department at 941.366.9017 or email info@floridsastudiotheatre.org to discuss the best fit for you. We are looking for volunteers in the following departments (see more information below):

Company Management
At Florida Studio Theatre, we pride ourselves on getting the best actors from all over the country. Volunteering with Company Management is a great way to meet our actors in the multitude of performances held here. Our volunteers are a vital part of Company Management as they assist in Guest Relations and work to assure that our performers are safe and comfortable during their stay with us in Sarasota. As a volunteer you will be able to provide transportation to and from the local airports, giving you a chance to really get to know the many different talented performers who come through the doors of Florida Studio Theatre. Building these relationships between our cast and crew is what makes FST a unique experience for anyone involved.
Costume Department
Can you sew on a button? How about use an iron? Have you ever wanted to use your skills for theatrical productions? We're looking for assistance in our shops as our department works on the 13+ shows we produce throughout the year. In the costuming department, you can experience the great reward of seeing your work on stage.
Education Department
Florida Studio Theatre's Education Program has providd outstanding educational programming for over 27 years. From the modest beginnings of 11 students in 1982, the program now reaches thousands of students across the region through innovative classes, workshops, tours and other activities. Volunteers interested in being a part of the education department will have a chance to further a part of our mission that is bringing theatre to anyone and everyone. With our wide selection of classes as well as seasonal camps for youths throughout the year, there is always an opportunity to help educate theatre to the masses.
Production Department
This department is another great way to see your work on stage. Our production department is always working hard to prepare for any of the shows we present on any of our three stages. As a volunteer you can assist, based on skill level, in anything from set and prop construction to painting to lighting and so much more. Be a part of the behind-the-scenes machine that helps make our shows so well remembered.
Literary Department
If you are an avid reader and want to expand your theatre horizons, this is an opportunity to experience a new play all the time! You'll assist our literary department by reading and evaluating just some of the hundreds of submitted scripts we receive each year. As part of our Reader's Circle, you'll have access to two to four new plays per week. This is a great department for anyone who loves to read.
Facilities Department
This is great for a volunteer who loves the outdoors and doesn't mind getting their hands dirty. As a volunteer for the Facilities department, you will assist in the maintenance of our actor and intern housing in the downtown area.
Reception
The receptionist is the first person that many patrons see as they enter the theatre for the first time. This person should reflect the tone and attitude of the theatre as a whole. As a volunteer in reception, you act as a representatitve of the theatre and will help in answering calls, greeting and directing patrons, and even providing tours of the facilities if requested.
Show Operations
Assisting in show operations is the cornerstone of our volunteer department. Here you will be able to assist during a performance as part of our ushering or parking attendant teams. This is a great way to meet our patrons and new audiences as well as be able to watch the many different performances that come through the doors of Florida Studio Theatre.
Development
You can help build the next generation of theatre subscribers and donors by volunteering in the Development department. Help maintain our excellent customer service by calling to thank individuals and businesses for their help. Conduct surveys with patrons both present and potential future patrons. Help create our future audiences and supporters.
